What do we need?
I was roaming around CP, looking for a story I was working on. It was 11 a.m. The streets had opened up. I could see people walking around—not too many, but enough. And I saw that usual CP scene you always find there: couples walking hand in hand, smiling or shying away while talking to each other.
Whereas there was me—sweating, black frames hanging off my face, searching for that one last item or piece to complete my story. When I say story, I mean one for a newspaper, not my life’s.
So yeah, when I see these kinds of things, I ask myself: do I need it?
Ahhhhhhhh. Honestly, I don’t know.
I mean, I like the validation a certain someone can provide—but need? I don’t think so. What I actually need in my life is health, safety, and happiness. If you think about it seriously, those three are the real luxuries—ones that very few people have. I’m one of those few.
But despite not having all three, people are still happy. While I was walking down the street, I saw a beggar smiling, autowalas laughing and teasing their friends, college kids roaming with their groups, and two school kids in navy blue uniforms—probably skipping school—chasing each other and running around.
All of them, from different walks of life, smiling. Being happy.
Or maybe I should say, choosing to be happy.
So the question comes again: what do we really need?
Hmmmmm... I think we actually need just two things in life—patience and courage.
To choose something or someone, you need courage.
And to keep choosing the same thing, every single day, you need patience.
That’s the only way one can truly be happy.
Just my two cents, though. If chocolate makes you happy—
You do you.
